Christmas Eve, at work, enjoying a little Ice Cuba. The nigga you love you hate.

    Friday, December 19

    Reykjavik, aah yeah!

So the trip is now booked; we depart March 1st for the darkness of downtown Reykjavik in the middle of winter. Awesome. Lately I've been checking the weather and it's been warmer in Iceland than it is in Minneapolis. Fuck yeah!

    I don't

This morning, for the 75th time, I was asked when I am getting married. Usually, my response is the same: I'm sure it will happen at some point, but I just don't see the rush right now. This usually sends the women into gasps of shock and horror. They rebut with the ever-common, "Don't you want a big wedding?", or my favorite, "Won't your dad want to walk you down the aisle?" Hilarious notions. First and foremost, it's nobody's business but my own. Secondly, I find large weddings to be a waste of cash, very materialistic, and showy. Nobody will be in the marriage except for myself and the partner I choose to marry. The wedding need not be large, or have people present, save for the two people involved. And yes, no religion, either.

By their rationale, not wanting a large wedding is "boring." I was actually called "boring" for not wanting the white gown of so many Bridezillas before me. So be it. I'd rather being boring than a close-minded twit.

DREAM: Crybaby's slap in the face

I emailed this dream to Candice earlier today:

Dude I had the BEST dream last night!!

Okay.. crybaby ran a record store that was located right next to our apartment. In fact the main room of the record store was on the other side of our bedroom wall. Neat! So one day Steve and I put our coats on to go outside, walk three feet, and go to the record store. Crybaby and another employee were walking in at the same time. Crybaby glared at me, that f*ck. Steve and I tried shopping for music but the store stocked NOTHING good: no CDs, no records, and only had cassettes of sh*tty, whiny, I'm-so-sleepy-and-boring music like Iron and Wine! (oh sh*t, on a side note.. did I tell you I SAW iron and wine play?? well we SAW them but didn't HEAR them.. we were in the next room at the bar and couldn't hear a damn thing.. Summer went to check the stage and came back to report that there was indeed a band on stage playing instruments. we all had a good laugh at this.)

So back to my delightfully entertaining dream: Steve had become bored with shopping so he was chillin' on a bean bag on the floor. I said: "Hey sweetie, let's go, baby," and crybaby mocked me in this nasty voice "let's go, baby"... So I shot a glare back and him and Steve and I went home.. That night we were trying to sleep when I realized that crybaby had turned his music ALL the way up so it would disturb my sleeping... so I went into the store to yell at him about the music and he was sitting behind the counter.. I walked up and just open-hand slapped his face a couple times, then told him I worked in mental health and I KNEW how to have someone committed involuntarily via the Baker Act (aka 5150, widely used in the state of California...) and these dudes in white coats came and took him away.. I signed something saying he needed to be committed and they hauled him off.. then you and me and burke ran around the store and laughed as people tried to get in the locked doors of the has-been record store.. I hung a sign that said "MICKEY D'S IS CLOSED" ya know like MC-Donald's... haha.. it was the best to slap his nasty face! Then Julian knocked on the door and we let him into the store.

    ICELAND: Here we come!!

I found a great book on Iceland that will really help us plan our springtime trip. Luckily, I was able to find a complete book with history, maps of Reykjavik, and basic language tips. Shit. I cannot wait.

This weekend Steve went and spent a $100 gift card at Best Buy. The original plan was to Xmas shop for others, but it ended up being an electronic glutton-fest for Steve and myself. These DVDs came home with us:

    -Director's Series Chris Cunningham
    -Director's Series Michel Gondry
    -Radiohead 7 Television Commercials
    -Sling Blade
    -The Tick

and some other stuff for Steve's family who let us live with them for 2 months. Fabulous.

Also, thankfully, my mom is overnighting my birth certificate so I can get my passport Friday morning. The pictures are being done tonight after work; Steve found an old school 4-shot photo booth. My first passport, how exciting!

This morning Steve won $100 on a radio contest. Some 80s station in the Twin Cities is playing old toy commercials from 80s with the names scrambled out. We both knew this morning's toy was the Pitfall game for Activision. Looks like presents will be bought this christmas, after all.

It's gonna happen this weekend. The booking of the trip, the passports, all of it. Here are some pictures of the area:

So, I am not very adept in keeping secrets. We made a deal: he guesses where and if he guesses correctly I tell him. Unfortunately, the first guess was correct. The fact that he guessed it right off the bat startled me so much I started laughing. So yes.

The plans are currently being cemented for a fun spring vacation for the two of us.
